What was the highlight of Hotel Nayra Gran Canaria
Quiet and relaxing with great care from staff! Location perfect for everything you need!
My main like of the property was that it was very quiet and relaxing. Many people appear to go to the beach rather than stay round the pool which means there are plenty of lounges to use and the mad dash to get one of a morning/towel reserving one simply does not take place. On many occasions during my two week stay I was one of only a handful of people around the pool. The pool is big enough to swim some laps although a little chilly initially early on in the day (I did not find this a problem). I also liked how spacious the room was, that it was equipped with a fridge and safety box, pool towels that can be exchanged for clean at reception and that free water was given whenever the room was cleaned. The room was provided with signs to signal if you wanted it to be cleaned or if you do not want to be disturbed along with another one for changing the bedding. It stuck a good balance between being environmentally friendly alongside personal desire for clean bedding. The room had a TV that was able to connect to Netflix. The property offers a wide range of food at breakfast which on the whole I was pleased with. They also offer a small selection of basic food during the day which I tried on occasion and believe it to be reasonably priced for what you get. A turkey and cheese sandwich with salad and potato croquette balls was approx. 4€. Cocktails were priced around 6€ each, were large and did not skimp on the alcohol content. The ones I had were really nice. Location wise it is directly opposite Yumbo shopping centre where you can find a number of shops, restaurants and bars. It’s a 3/4 minute walk to the Red Cow Sports bar/pub where you can watch football and approx. 8-10 minute walk to the beach. If you want everything on your doorstep it’s perfect. The staff are extremely helpful and diligent in their roles. In particular Angela on reception is lovely. She’s always interacting with guests asking how they are and goes out of her way to help you!
My main dislike about the property is the gym. I chose this hotel as it had one and I wanted to be able to keep up my routine whilst there. Sadly on the first day I found that the treadmill is positioned on legs that make it permanently on an uphill angle. Unless you are happy to constantly run or walk uphill then it’s useless. The only other piece of cardio equipment was a spinning bike. The gym would benefit from an elliptical and a rack of dumbbells. I also didn’t like the complete openness of the shower area to the back of the property. Not only did it mean that the cleaner could walk in on you naked at any point (unless you put the do not disturb sign on the back door in time) the retractable canopy does not cover the back side completely and people in the buildings opposite can surely see in as I could see them on their balconies. The shower head on the flex cable was also useless as it flooded the whole area and toilet room into the bedroom when I tried to use it so the only option was to use the waterfall shower head which can be problematic if you don’t want to get your hair wet.

One of the nicest hotels ever stayed in, spotless, great Breakfast, very quiet and very welcoming
Everything, really beautiful, quiet and spotless hotel. Pool lovely salt water, great little private garden bit out the back. Breakfast a lot of choice and all fresh and tasty. Staff so very helpful and all friendly. Excellent location. Clean towels given all the time, towels for Beach and or Pool, which were swapped for clean as often as you wanted, no deposit for pool towels, no deposit or charge for room safe. Fridge in the room. Complimentary Coffee and Tea, daily bottle of water in the room.
Nothing, if I had to say anything I wasn’t a fan of the sensor bathroom light, didn’t want it on at night blinding me when I used the bathroom and then it took quite a while to turn off but really this is nothing, this hotel was amazing.
